Music has the power to transport us
Music really has the power to transport us, moving us emotionally and physically.
For me, music was a really important tool in my toolbox as I prepared for a calm and positive birth. When I was in labour, the music playlists I had created during pregnancy became such a cue for coming into my body and reaching a calm and focused mental state. The familiar songs helped me remember the breathing excercises, affirmations and visualisations that I had practised during pregnancy and that resonated most. The songs I had chosen allowed me to draw on the source of femininity and strength within me. They made me feel strong and capable.
If you’ve been to my classes you’ll know that music is a really central part. I curate playlists to create moods. Soundtracks for self expression and creativity through movement. Playlists to take you out of autopilot and really make you feel, psychologically and physiologically. Yoga becomes and expression of joy and pleasure, a celebration of your body and all that it can do, and a way to connect with your heart.
